The SEFA Group is an industrial company who takes coal ash and turns it into fly ash by taking it through their STAR equipment. This technology allows for companies that burn coal to get rid of the ash in a sustainable way. Duke Energy is currently building three new STAR plants in North Carolina to get the coal ash out of the ponds before it causes further damage to the surrounding environment. I was employed last summer from May 14th to July 19th. Over this period I acquired a total of 343.5 hours.

IES Commercial and Industrial is an electrical subcontractor for industrial/commercial sites all over the United States. I started June 25th and worked until July 27th getting a total of 217 hours in the 5 week period. The job-site was in Anderson, South Carolina where we were the subcontractor on the electrical side for the new addition to the First Quality plant. This work was extraordinarily different from my experience in residential construction. I was apart of a big crew that was running conduit, pulling wire, grounding buildings, and building cable tray.

Cromarty Construction is a residential construction company located in Boerne, Texas which specializes in decks, siding, and new construction. My internship in Boerne was my first experience in the construction industry as well as my first time in the field. I gained knowledge of every aspect involved for the various residential construction projects we completed. Joining a residential team like Cromarty Construction for half the summer benefited me in several ways. I gained hands on experience while learning various carpentry skills and also was introduced to reading plans and bidding new projects with the owner. I worked a total of 241 hours  from May 7th to June 15th.
