My work has been centered on enhancing the fuel efficiency of signalized corridors through the application of traffic simulation, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication. I collaborated with a Department of Energy researcher to integrate the first NEMA-style traffic signal controller into SUMO using C++, a project that necessitated regular contributions to open-source traffic simulation software. Additionally, I developed a framework for parallelized simulation and sensitivity analyses of SUMO digital twin using Ray & Python, which allowed for more efficient and accurate traffic simulations, by making it easier to capture ranges of stochastic outputs. My research also led to the creation of a Python library for applying reinforcement learning to SUMO using OpenAI Gym and Ray RLLib.I have also delved into the realm of data fusion and Kalman filtering. I implemented track-to-track data association and fusion techniques for partially overlapping road-side radars using Rust & Python. This work involved the application of Kalman filtering, a powerful algorithm used for estimating the state of a system based on noisy measurements. Through this project, I gained a deep understanding of the principles of data fusion and the practical application of Kalman filtering in real-world scenarios.

At Hanson, I served as a Part-time Software Engineer and Special Consultant, working remotely to develop Python & NextJS web apps for tracking bridge movement, river gauge, temperature, and HVAC systems. This role required a high level of technical proficiency, as well as the ability to work independently and manage my time effectively as I worked on my PhD in parallel.

During my tenure as a Graduate Research Assistant at Green Last Mile, I worked remotely with an international team from MIT/IBM, ITU Denmark, and Kale Collective. We estimated travel and service time using raw GPS recordings from cargo-bikes in London & Brussels. I also processed Amazon datasets to extract delivery van travel and service times in five U.S. cities. One of my significant contributions was the implementation of a state-of-the-art geospatial embedding model in PyTorch using Uber’s H3 hexagonal geospatial index. This work involved extensive exploratory data analysis, feature selection, and model selection for probabilistic service time prediction.

I spent my summer with the design engineering department, where I worked mainly in the PTC Creo suite. My responsibilities ranged from drawing revisions to the design of a hub motor mating tool. Along the way, I also headed an engineering change required because of an installation interference. A solution was found using 3D-scans of the component and 3D-printed prototypes

I was a member of a tandem team to develop a engineering change tracking solution for a tier one automotive supplier. The tracking tool was developed after mapping the supplier's process and implemented in SharePoint. I communicated with the customer to write tool requirements and refine the change process.
