In 2001 spent 7 months in Oman preparing, supporting and then redeploying all UK force elements taking part in Exercise SAIF SARREA II a Brigade plus live firing exercise in the Omani desert. In 2003 took the regiment to Kuwait as the Theatre Logistic Regiment for UK Forces taking part in the invasion of Iraq. In less than 10 weeks deployed to a virgin site, received, brought to account and issued over 11,000 tonnes of ammunition and 2,000 ISO containers of materiel allowing UK forces to start combat operations on time. Was promoted to colonel and awarded the OBE.
