● Deep knowledge of spectroscopic ellipsometry instrumentation and multi-layer optical design and modeling: expertise with 7 instrument types (THz to vacuum ultraviolet wavelengths)● Lead role in maintenance and troubleshooting of multiple vacuum deposition systems including finding cost-effective solutions to sustaining operation of aging eight-chamber cluster tool with PECVD, sputtering, and co-evaporation capability● Design specifications, commissioning, qualification, and use of multi-purpose characterization tool for photothermal deflection spectroscopy, dual-beam photoconductivity, quantum efficiency, and current-voltage measurements● Development of optical databases successfully used for detecting composition depth profiles of CdSe-CdS bi-layer structures and simulation of CdTe-based solar cell performance● Design and in-house construction of two variable-humidity chambers optimized for real-time material monitoring at NIR-UV and THz wavelengths during degradation and defect formation● Direct work on fabrication and chracterization of >30 separate materials ● Mentorship of 6 graduate students: training specifically for deposition and characterization equipment, data analysis techniques, publication editing, and scientific principles● 21 peer-reviewed publications (6 as first-author) with collaborators at 17 institutions; 29 conference presentations (14 as presenting author)● Selected Research Projects: -a-Si:H solar cell optimization via real-time spectroscopic ellipsometry monitoring during deposition-Real-time monitoring of active metal-to-insulator switching in VO2 for infrared sensors-Opto-electronic anisotropy in carbon nanotube films measured by THz ellipsometry-Effect of deposition and processing conditions on optical properties in CdS:O-Atmospherically-induced optical defect characterization in organic-inorganic halide perovskites for photovoltaics
