I investigate the characteristics and mechanics of submarine landslides via flume experiments and numerical modeling.

I am the Vice President of the Graduate Student Government at the Colorado School of Mines which includes acting as the chair of the Graduate Research and Discovery Symposium planning committee.

Supervised summer interns, overseeing anaerobic culture preparation and biochemistry lab management processes. Directed growth-medium and chemical-solution preparation, Polymerase Chain Reaction, gel-electrophoresis, optical density measurement, and refractory microscopy. Managed colorimetry, absorbance, and optical density determinations. Assessed, documented, reported, and presented project progression/results. Key Accomplishments:• Awarded Project Leader Status: Change of Venusian Geomorphology Utilizing Arc GIS.• Awarded Project Leader and Study Designer: Modeling Potential Martian Microbial Contaminant Progression utilizing Mars Climate Models.• Selected to Present at the Prestigious 2017 Lunar and Planetary Science Convention: Silver, Maxwell M. W., Mora, S., Ivey, M., and Chevrier, V. (2017), An Experimental Assessment on the Effects of Variations in Sulfate Concentrations on Sulfate Reducing Bacteria in Simulated Martian Conditions.

Employed experimental-impact techniques to examine microbial responses to impact shock. Performed ion chromatography and polymerase chain reaction analysis, cultured anaerobic microbes, and cored shallow sediment. Quantified DNA concentrations and prepared DNA sequencing samples.Key Accomplishments:• Examined microbial responses to impacts in terrestrial marine sediments during the Late Heavy Bombardment on Earth.• Selected to design, manage, and execute NASA research project. • Presented verbal and written data to NASA management.• Selected to present scientific findings to the 2018 Gordon Research Conference on the Origins of Life.

My primary role was assessing the needs of customers interested in renting various tools. I interacted with these individuals to determine what tool or tools they needed to best complete their project. I then processed the rental for said tools.

My primary responsibilities were setting up microphones and speaker systems, video taping and editing events, and troubleshooting classroom technologies. I also managed and mentored student technicians and student technicians in training on departmental processes and public relations skills. I became proficient in analyzing and solving problems with failing hardware as well as delegating tasks. Working at Instructional Technologies gave me significant customer service experience as well as experience organizing inventory and processing client purchases.

An Undergraduate Research Experience where I conducted a climate change study utilizing isotope decay chains in speleothems resulting in a publication in the Fall 2014 AGU conference.
