CurrentConducted observations and data collection on students with special behavioral needs and developmental disabilities. Independently curated baseline data to develop individualized Behavior Support Plans (BSP). BSPs were monitored over time to determine challenging behavior trends such as physical aggression, non-compliance, self-stimulation, and/or elopement. Devised intervention strategies to reach target behaviors, i.e.: following directions, appropriate communication, positive social skills, and problem solving. Collaborated with staff and parents to ensure implementation of intervention strategies. Oversaw team of 15 Teacher Assistants (TA). Created daily schedules for TAs to properly service students in need of intervention. Provided instant support for any TA handling a student in crisis. Conducted frequent meetings with TAs to discuss concerns and problem-solve student issues. Created a “Behavior Intensity Scale” which has now been introduced into other Fenton schools’ special education training and program implementation. System was developed to effectively identify/collect data on challenging behaviors based on severity and guide all staff on providing an appropriate response to the observed challenging behavior. Data was then logged in a Google Form and organized into charts/graphs using Google Sheets to track each student’s behavioral progress. Build positive relationships with students by continuously establishing trust, providing empowerment, and fostering motivation.
