May Guevara pursued her B.A. in Psychology with a Minor in Communication Studies from Chapman University and later earned her M.A. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage in Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. Upon graduation from Chapman, she was hired as a Montessori preschool teacher where she gained experience developing skill-based curriculum encompassing cognitive, social, emotional and physical development. May also worked as a school site counselor for the Orange County Department of Education ACCESS, where she conducted biopsychosocial assessments and provided individual therapy to at-risk and low socioeconomic adolescents.In addition to her teaching and clinical experience, May has worked as a Behavior Interventionist with a local school district administering individualized ABA strategies to improve children’s academic, social, communication, motor, and adaptive skills.May is trained in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Discrete Trial Training (DTT), and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and has been working in the field of autism and ABA since 2009. May also received additional training in implementing positive behavioral strategies and behavioral intervention planning and received a certificate in Behavioral Analysis for Successfully Initiating Change (B.A.S.I.C.).May was born and raised in Hawaii and moved to California for higher education and greater opportunities. She has always aspired to work with children in order to cultivate their strengths and discover their full potential. May has an especially strong passion for working with children and families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders and she believes that fostering rapport, balanced support and positive encouragement are essential to each child’s success.
