May is Director of Risk Management at The CSL Group (CSL), a privately-owned Canadian shipping company headquartered in Montreal which operates a global fleet of specialised self-unloading vessels, off-shore transhippers and bulk carriers. May is responsible for the company’s risk management strategy and its implementation, including handling of all global insurance placements and marine and non-marine claims handling. May has over 20 years of international marine insurance experience gained in Canada and abroad, including five years with a leading transportation mutual in London, England. She holds a LLM and LLB from the University of Copenhagen as well as a LLM in Maritime Law from the University of Southampton. May’s passion for the shipping industry is equaled only by her love of travel and exploring new cultures. As a result, May has studied, lived and worked in five countries on three continents over the last 20 years. An experience she draws on in her current global role with CSL.
