With this company I carried out many tasks. I often would work alone and had to serve customers without assistance. I was expected to have extensive knowledge on products and help clients with their needs based on their projects. I was taught to customize and adjust my product recommendations based on each customer’s specific needs. In terms of store upkeep, since I was working alone, I was expected to sweep and mop at the end of every shift. I was also a key holder, and almost every shift I would either be opening or closing the store. I was taught to balance a till and prepare the store for the next day of work. I answered many telephone calls a day and took orders from contractors and other clients that did not have time to visit the store for extended periods of time. During my time there I also learned to be very patient with customers and listen to their needs and preferences. Here I also learned that working in a team is very important and that working together on a problem is the best way to get things done. I learned this because I had to be so independent at this store I learned to appreciate working with others.

At Tim Hortons I learned that consistent work is very important. Making two coffees taste the same was one of the easier things to accomplish. Most importantly I learned that when working with a team of people it is important to learn about everyone’s strengths and weaknesses and use them to create the strongest team you can. I was often tasked with delegating work and making sure all tasks were done as efficiently as possible. I was expected to work quickly and serve every customer with a smile. I learned to work with customers when they had an issue regarding service or a product to provide the best solution. I was often expected to prepare the store in case the store got busy. I would also prepare the store for the next day of work and prep everything needed in order for the next shift to run as smoothly as possible. At this company I learned how important teamwork is as well as being comfortable with the products and confident when serving customers.
