I spent a wonderful 6 months building a community garden on a derelict site encouraging volunteers and participants to engage with the project. The role developed my understanding of issues around working with a diverse group to achieve a common goal and gave me a better understanding of practical considerations when planning and developing a garden space.

The pandemic hit and I needed a job so I decided to shadow a professional gardener for a few months, gaining the skills I needed to then set up my own business in the Autumn of 2020

Two of my most memorable years working as part of the falconry team where I learned a range of practical skills around training birds and caring for them. I also supported the team with talks, displays and interactions with customers. Additional skills gained included maintenance, DIY, pest and bird control.
