I am a second-year college student working towards a Journalism degree with a Latin American Studies minor. At 16, I moved to Portland, OR from my hometown Tegucigalpa, Honduras. As I tried to find my place inside the giant world of the United States, I found my passion for writing. Whether it's in a journalistic or artistic lens, writing is my best form of self-expression. Through it, I hope to build more connections and advocate for a world that is informed, inclusive, and understanding. Throughout my high school career, I wrote and edited for Puño & Letra, the only High School Spanish magazine in all of Oregon. Since then, I've volunteered for HerCampus Magazine and Seattle U's newspaper, The Spectator. When I'm not writing, I'm working as a medical interpreter in different hospitals and clinics around the city or working with kindergarteners at Bailey Gatzert Elementary. If there is one thing these two jobs have taught me is that I love working and building connections with people of all ages. In the future, I hope I can continue doing that through my writing.
