Hi there, my name is Maya! I am a dedicated and enthusiastic Kinesiology student at the University of Victoria. I am currently in my second year and once I have completed my Bachelors of Science degree I aspire to continue my education and become a Physical Therapist. When not at school you can find me exploring the beach, working out at the gym, surfing or paddle boarding in the ocean, or teaching myself a new skill. I am passionate about movement, outdoor exploration, personal health and wellness, and building community connections.My interest in movement and anatomy grew from a long background in dance, gymnastics, and an outdoor active lifestyle. It is my goal to have a rich applied knowledge of the human body in movement and apply this to help people recover from injury, manage pain, and get back to their daily activities and passions. I thrive on continuous learning and social connections and am excited to work with clients and have a positive impact on their lives. I am very passionate about physical activity and the benefits it has for both physical and mental health and hope to enable others to continue to be active and do the things they love.Having worked in a variety of fields both in customer service and active programs with children I have developed a well rounded skill set to working with people of all backgrounds and building relationships. I have strong leadership skills and determination and am known to go above and beyond and have pride in the work that I do. As I continue my journey to becoming a Physical Therapist, I am eager to learn, grow, and collaborate with like-minded individuals passionate about health, fitness, and active living. I hope to expand my hands-on learning experience in a physical therapy office and connect with kinesiologists, physical therapists, and clients.
