My main research interest lies in developing machine learning and data mining methods to model, understand and predict social phenomena. The main contributions of my Ph.D. thesis lie in developing novel machine learning and data mining methods for spatio-temporal data. My work spans a wide variety of applications, from transportation, public safety, and public health to social media. Meanwhile, as a research scientist at NTT R&D, I develop visualization tools and prediction methods for traffic flow and human mobility. I have just finished my Ph.D. degree at Kyoto University graduate school of informatics in March this year, while working as a full-time research scientist/researcher at NTT R&D, Japan.
