I not only saw the need but experienced it in my own life, the lack of culturally grounded mental health services and community interventions. This is my response, MAYAMOTION. Western therapeutic services that focus solely on the individual, without addressing the very real systems of power that perpetuate mental health oppression not only miss the mark but are harmful, especially to marginalized communities.
