Ever since I was young, my teachers would comment on my optimism, determination, and generosity when completing work and interacting with classmates. Whenever I set a goal, I would create an action plan to have it come into fruition such as becoming peer counselor for fellow students. Once I accomplished my goal, I became dedicated to fostering a support system. By tending to their needs and creating an uplifting environment, I made an effort to make each meeting feel like a safe space to discuss updates about their life. This experience allowed me to further develop empathy, so I could provide solutions to any problems. Additionally, this role caused me to reflect on human behaviors and how each person's experience affected their mental health and their courses of action. In combination with this role and Psychology course, I became fascinated with understanding the cognitive and behavioral functions of humans including attitudes, feelings, and decision-making. Further, the intersection between neurology and psychology interests me to learn about the brain in a larger scale where I can identify patterns between the functions of the brain and the behavioral output. I am looking for programs that actively target this connection between the brain and behaviors. Please feel free to contact me on LinkedIn. I would be delighted to engage with you.
