Idalia and the Niño Santo is a feature-length documentary film about the life of a young Mazatec shaman from the mountains of Oaxaca, Mexico. As both a mushroom healer and a liaison for the local hospital, Idalia straddles multiple worlds. Through Idalia's eyes, we come face to face with the larger social historical tensions regarding gender, motherhood, ethnicity, westernization, and alternative conceptions of the self.
