In my role as HIT Program Manager, I led an Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) grant-funded High Impact Tutoring (HIT) Program in four Washington, D.C. high schools. I built strong relationships with partners, schools, and funders to ensure effective program delivery and facilitated collaboration among our team and schools to align HIT content with the curriculum. Managing a team of four Academic Coaches, I provided mentorship, performance reviews, and team engagement activities. I also led the recruitment and onboarding of eight Academic Coaches. My efforts contributed to the successful writing and submission of six grant applications, securing organizational funding.

Additionally, I managed social media platforms and our monthly newsletter, achieving a 20% or higher open rate by curating content, designing templates, and analyzing metrics. Most importantly, I fostered a positive work environment for part-time employees by sharing opportunities, holding office hours, and organizing meet-up events.

Geneva, Switzerland

I participated in a Duke University course in Geneva focused on global humanitarian issues, including refugees, migration, and crises. As part of the program, I visited international organizations such as the International Red Cross, UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Doctors Without Borders, and others. During a week-long case study, I collaborated with a team of seven students to design and present solutions to current refugee crises. This experience provided invaluable access to the heart of international humanitarian efforts, reigniting my passion for human rights and reinforcing my belief in education as a fundamental right for all.

I conducted a desk review on LGBTQ+ programming in international contexts, with a focus on Africa, analyzing over 100 program documents to evaluate effectiveness and impact. I compiled these findings into a comprehensive report, highlighting best practices, challenges, and recommendations for improving LGBTQ+ initiatives. I developed and delivered a presentation summarizing the review, using visual aids and data, and facilitated discussions on enhancing LGBTQ+ strategies. Additionally, I actively participated in quarterly reflection sessions, contributing insights to the development of gender-related strategies and programs.

Worked as an English language teaching assistant in 4 different elementary schools in Blois and Annecy, France. Collaborated with teachers to plan lessons and activities for various age groups and levels of English proficiency. Led classroom lessons in a mixture of English and French, depending on the proficiency level of the class. Developed materials and programs to encourage English learning. Facilitated a weekly discussion group to help the teachers improve their English. Living and working in France sharpened my French language skills and my comfort in unfamiliar situations.

Guria is an anti-sex trafficking NGO with locations in the red light district of Varanasi and a boat school on the Ganga river in Varanasi. Spent the majority of my time at the boat school facilitating after school activities, focused on learning English, for at risk youth. Conducted lessons and activities with the children, and provided a safe space for them to go after school. My time living in India created an adaptability and flexibility to the various ways in which other cultures navigate time management, organization, and professionalism.
