Focused on a Bayesian software for multiple sequence alignment called BAli-Phy – this software is highly accurate yet very computationally intensive with long run times. Working on a way to optimize its runtime without compromising accuracy. Able to reduce computation time from >48 hours to 4 hours and improve accuracy on 1000 sequence data sets which are 10 times larger than the sequence data sets BAli-Phy is designed to run.

Lead instructor for Engineering 100, a required first-semester class for all incoming engineering freshmen. I teach, grade, guide, and mentor students to enable them to facilitate smoother transition into college. Have taught over 50 students over past two years.

Director of new student registration for the summer and fall of 2021. Helped coordinate the logistics of advising and assisting almost 8000 freshmen with their first semester classes. Also managed and trained a team of 20 new student registration assistants who worked directly with freshman to guide and aid students when they ran into issues.

Working on COVID-related cardiovascular disease research as part of grant proposal. Developed a program to query thousands of research publications (using the COVID-19 Knowledge Graph) to analyze occurrence of cardiovascular MeSH descriptors, proteins, and pathways to determine their relevance to COVID-19.

Worked on the Driver Growth team. Automated marketing team’s campaign analysis process by creating a full stack data pipeline. The pipeline queried campaign data for specific analysis metrics and displayed the data visualizations in internal service tool for use by marketing teams. This project included the languages MySQL, Go, HTML, Javascript, and CSS.

Analyzed customer data to create a collaborative filtering system to improve the ad stream of a website.

Worked on the AWS Core Infrastructure and Development team. Created an alerting and monitoring service to detect errors in an existing logging agent and then redirect them to the appropriate team for resolution. Presented the work to internal customers and incorporated their feedback.
