I participated in a year-long service fellowship called Pittsburgh Urban Leadership Service Experience (PULSE). PULSE connects recent college graduates with local nonprofits with the goal of establishing a new generation of leaders committed to community engagement and public service. I served full-time as the Equity and Inclusion Coordinator for the Urban Redevelopment Authority and as a result I have received valuable exposure of economic development and the importance of community development. I was tasked with overseeing the internal Equity Working Group, develop the agency’s equity strategy, and creation of community engagement framework.

Shifts consisted of working in deli, making pizzas, washing dishes and stocking shelves.

Works primarily with the residents of Lansing, taking in their questions and concerns by answering phone calls and emails and providing them with information and solutions to their problems. Compose correspondence and proclamations for various members of the community and represent the mayor at meetings and events. Organize the Mayors' Ramadan Unity Dinner and analyze local policy proposals.
