Industrial Engineering Team Member: Systems Modeling And SimulationRyerson University Jan 2020 - Apr 2020Toronto, Ontario, CanadaCourse Project: Winner’s Queuing System Modeling and Simulation ProjectTo optimize the queuing system and the waiting lines of a retail system, a complete simulation analysis was conducted. The simulation models were created by collecting the data from two different days during the same time. The data was entered into Arena’s Input Analyzer to generate the distributions, histograms and their specific distribution parameters for arrival times and service times. The distributions and their parameters were used to produce outputs, which were used to verify the data and tweak the Arena model. The data was simulated for different times and volumes of customer traffic to identify areas of improvement. This revealed a cause of concern during rush hour, as the queues increased then, causing customer dissatisfaction and loss of revenue. In turn, this problem was analysed, and appropriate solutions and further recommendations were suggested. Proposed improvements were suggested for increasing profit and further optimizing the check-out service. -
