In three years, I worked with over 58 products. My team became a cornerstone of the program with 10 UXRs, plus 10 vendor UXDs who transformed Minimum Viable Products to Minimum Lovable Products while influencing the incubator’s thesis and the investment strategy of our partners. Taking risks while establishing scalable processes - At Gannett, I led qualitative field research for 14 media outlets such as USA Today, The Bold Italic, and The Indy Star. As part of the corporate team, I experienced the challenge of being an internal consultant. Without funding it was difficult for local papers to apply research insights to their portfolio of products. I launched a weekly Product Jam to lower the barrier to innovation and managed a pilot lean product program which secured funding from our C-suite for two products.From entrepreneur to UXR - In 2010, during the financial crisis, I co-founded a startup to create streams of revenue for artists. My business became an opportunity to test and iterate methods and apply the learnings. I attribute my scrappy, creative approach to these roots.Aligning business strategy to user needs - I've gravitated towards industries (media, crowdfunding, digital transformation, advertising) where markets outgrew the business model. In my experience, I saw each industry make assumptions and lose touch with understanding consumers and customers. I believe that a strong investment in foundational research enables products to evolve with users.

Included a mix of Executives, Managers, and Practitioners from the top seven revenue generating verticals. Research gave Google a unique opportunity to understand the narrative of the business alongside the multiple users. Learnings from the Future of Ads Co-Lab inspired the incubation of a new product in Ads Inc.Bringing stakeholders together to develop a strategy - Envisioned a future for Google Analytics. While I conducted research, the most critical work was running monthly workshops to connect our siloed teams (including Product, Eng, UX with our customer-facing colleagues) and developing a unified vision beyond the 1-2 year roadmap. -
Senior User Experience ResearcherDocusign Mar 2016 - Apr 2018San Francisco, Ca, UsI managed research for multiple product areas used by enterprise, commercial, and SMB customers in addition to consumers.Defining the product migration - Supported the GTM team in their fourth and final attempt to transition all customers from the legacy product (Classic) to the new product. I defined customer segmentation and managed betas of each group, collecting qualitative and quantitative data through each stage to ensure we were prepared to transition all customers. I worked with customer-facing teams to identify gaps and redundancies in the existing and planned transition journeys, shining a light on where the company needed to further invest. My work drove the transition strategy, messaging, and put UX Parity on the map as a P0. Expanding the product set - Led research pre-IPO to evaluate moving into the document generation space resulting in the acquisition of Spring CM. -

User ResearcherIndiegogo Apr 2015 - Jan 2016San Francisco, Ca, UsI led research for campaign management, contributor discovery, and new investments.Evaluating new markets - Generative and explorative research about equity crowdfunding through secondary research and in-depth-interviews with investors and entrepreneurs. Post synthesis, I partnered with the design and marketing teams to gauge market interest with the launch of a pre test-the-waters page. Insights strongly pointed to the potential risk of this departure and a need for a reputable partner; Indiegogo launched a beta program with MicroVentures.Product innovation - Led the Amplification Initiative. Descriptive and explanatory research with both creators and the media identified opportunities for Indiegogo to better support users in their approach to media and development of a fundraising strategy. I collaborated with the marketing team to develop a low cost MVP, a downloadable campaign calendar that integrated research insights and actionable tactics. The calendar rapidly became the most popular piece of content on the blog and a large acquisition channel. Product improvement - Indiegogo was considering combining pages due to low engagement. Evaluative research focused on understanding the discovery process and experience for different verticals. Leveraging the insights, I worked with the design team to create five variations of a new discovery page. The new design caused a material lift in the formerly low performing page. -
