Born in Israel, Maya moved to the Boston area at age six. She received a BA in Art from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, a MA in Art Education & Illustration at Rhode Island School of Design and a Masters of Science in Genetic Counseling from Brandeis University. Maya’s varied experiences include directing a promotion and design department for Dole Publishing, illustrating children’s books including Shabbos is Coming, We’re Lost in the Zoo and Word by Word Primary Phonics Dictionary, and working as a Genetic Counselor at the Lahey Clinic while raising 3 children. She also serves on the board of the non-profit organization, FOLMADS (Friends of Lexington Music, Art, Drama Students). Maya’s strong bond to her Jewish heritage and traditions along with her appreciation and devotion to the state of Israel adds passion to her search for “overlooked” causes.

  At JChoice, Maya’s primary responsibilities include identifying and evaluating overlooked causes as well as nurturing ongoing relationship between JChoice and those causes. Maya welcomes suggestions from all, in fact, she prides herself that no potential cause, organization or program will pass her desk without being considered. She searches the U.S., Israel and beyond for compelling stories that will reach the hearts and minds of the next generation of Jewish contributors. Her hope is to create lifelong connections amongst the JChoice family as people realize their commitment to Tzedakah and Community Service.
