I am a certified health physicist (2010) with 20 years of experience in all major aspects of operational radiation protection. I have worked under NRC broad scope licenses (10CFR20), for a DOE regulated facility (10CFR835), and under Swiss federal laws (StSG/StSV).After graduating with a B.S. in physics and political science in 1999, I worked as a consultant for Booze Allen & Hamilton, where I responded to regulatory inquiries regarding the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), specializing in mixed wastes. I returned to school for my M.S. in health physics in 2000, but left after one semester to take a job as an HP Tech for the Environmental Health & Safety Office at the U. of Michigan. I gained a lot of hands on experience and was soon promoted to HP and charged with all radiation safety related activities within 200+ laboratories. Before returning to grad school, I worked as a research assistant in the U. of Michigan’s Pathology Department and spent five months backpacking through SE Asia.In 2004, I joined the health physics graduate program at Idaho State U. where I worked as a Teaching Assistant and then Dosimetry Coordinator for the Technical Safety Office. After graduating, I accepted a teaching position at the University, where I stayed through the spring of 2009.I accepted a position at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jlab) in the fall of 2009. I was hired to run the radiation safety training program, but was soon asked to also manage the radionalytical laboratory, and eventually lead the dosimetry program. In Feb. 2018, I left Jlab to concentrate on my health and family. I moved to Tbilisi, Georgia and in March 2019 to Switzerland, where I was hired to manage the radioactive waste generated by the Swiss Light Source upgrade at the Paul Scherrer Institut. One year later, I became the head of the Schule für Strahlenschutz at the PSI Bildungszentrum.
