Undergraduate Research Assistant, Vt Campus Photogrammetry Project
Utilized unconventional methods of georeferencing to create a rough digital 3D model of the Virginia Tech campus. Worked with a dataset of over 8,000 oblique, non-georeferenced images of campus taken in 2019 by Pictometry. Used Pix4D to manually add a minimum of 10 ground control points (GCP's) within each image, usually manhole covers or street arrows, to aid the image referencing algorithm built into Pix4D. I then ran the georeferenced images from Pix4D through different model building software (SURE Aerial and RealityCapture) and fused them with LiDAR point clouds to create the initial 3D model.

Worked to digitize major areas of interest overtop an orthoimage of Whitetop Mtn. forest canopy. Created a fishnet for ease of digitization and maintained feature classes within ArcGIS to represent five major categories of vegetation. Had to precisely mark each spruce centroid for the visual interpretation analysis. Also had to digitize the boundary of each area of spruce study with a custom polygon.
