I landed this on-line teaching gig in May 2017 and I have totally enjoyed the flexibility of hours, the pay rate, the fact that I don't have to create lesson plans and that I get to work with beautiful Chinese children (ages 5-12). Encouraged 14-18 year olds in the creation of English short story and poetry writing, as well as website development, for the college's first ever English Creativity Camp. There was team of 6 American teachers that participated to engage the students in film making, story writing and poetry presentation, lyric and music writing, and game development. Forty-five students, divided into three classes, focused on one theme per class to create and focus their efforts to make a difference in their world. A very rewarding experience!

*Through collaborative efforts, planned, coordinated, executed public relations-marketing strategies to increase positive media for SAFE, which drew recognition of the White House of National Drug Control Policy...Also helped in winning the 2013 National Dose of Prevention award for SAFE’s work on preventing cough medicine abuse among youth.*Managed SAFE’s social media networks (Facebook and Twitter) and company website. In January 2015, nearly 10,000 hits occurred through 33 shares. *Coordinated/organized media inquires/responses for executive director on “hot topics” for the organization. During March 2013, SAFE was on three local television stations and two local papers and 66 syndicates picked up the stories.*Served as project manager for two SAFE on-line annual reports. *Wrote press releases for SAFE initiatives which were run by television, radio and newspapers in Spanish and English. •As a community coordinator: Mentored and coordinated with youth intern and school principles to host an alcohol awareness presentation at two high schools with 1,500 students in attendance.•Coordinated/facilitated four monthly SAFE task forces to formulate and implement group strategies and goals. •Interviewed, hired and mentored youth interns in developing strategies to reach youth for SAFE's Youth Coalition. •Coordinated volunteer participation for over 20 community health fairs and festivals, providing informational brochures and children’s activities.•As a grant writer: Awarded a 2014 VA Alcoholic Beverage Control Education and Prevention Grants to develop SAFE Central Virginia Latino Coalition. Awarded $12,000 through foundation grants for Teen Ambassadors.•Submitted reports for the last 2.5 years of implementation of two federal grants and a state grant yielding over $1,000,000 for a 10-year period. •Assisted in development of Latino media campaign of 3 television/radio spots promoting alcohol laws, which reached up to 50% of area Latinos.
