My name is Maya, and I am the Communications and Publications Coordinator for UCLA's Asian American Studies Center & Press. I am a Chinese American UCLA Arts graduate based between Beijing and Los Angeles. I am a curious community-engaged storyteller working across digital media and culture, visual communications, publications, social justice, education, and the arts. I am currently working on a hybrid poetry book to be released in 2024 with LA-based Kaya Press. I have years of practice in Adobe Creative Suite and other industry tools - between arts and design courses and working for cultural organizations and institutions. These roles have helped me develop my keen artistic eye, learn how to wear many hats, and have familiarized me with collaborating across digital and physical creative spaces. I enjoy working across design, writing, video, illustration, installation, art direction. My artistic practice explores the boundaries of medium, time, language, and Chinese (American) identity and community. In my free time, you can find me in the middle of a garden, concert, museum, movie, book, or all of the above. Please reach out for any community-centered freelance projects, new opportunities, or just to chat! š
