I am very interested in the computational modeling of fluid flows. My work experience includes modeling turbulent flows, free-surface flows, and particle-laden fluid flows using commercial, open-source, and in-house flow solvers. A good understanding of the physics of the multiphase complex flow system, numerical implementation, and proficiency in programming helps me to switch between open-source CFD solvers and modify equations suitable for specific flow problems seamlessly.During my masters, I worked on understanding and executing the complete CFD workflow, including preprocessing, simulation, and post-processing for various complicated mineral processing equipment. My thesis work includes computational modeling of turbulent three-phase (solid-water-air) flow in tumbling mills. While working on my thesis, I developed a sound understanding of turbulence and multiphase flows, along with considerable coding experience. The work experience helped me start utilizing open-source solvers and in-house codes for high-fidelity simulations of complex industrial-scale fluid flows. My doctoral work consists of developing high-fidelity solvers for highly swirling turbulent fluid flows relevant to mineral processing industries. To deal with the intensive computational load due to industrial-scale simulations, I implemented multi-threaded parallelization using CUDA subroutines, resulting in a speed-up of around 15X on an NVIDIA Tesla K20m GPU. The GPU parallel solver developed was used to explore the optimum design of dense medium cyclones to treat near-gravity materials as a part of a collaborative project with R&D NMDC Corp. Uppal. I am an enthusiastic, self-driven, and eager to learn individual with considerable experience in developing parallel flow solvers and complete fluid flow simulations.
