In 2021 I graduated from McGill University with my undergraduate degree, majoring in psychology and sociology and minoring in communications. I am now gaining more practical skills by studying mental health and addictions at Humber College. I am passionate about promoting mental health and strive to provide a supportive, confidential, non-judgemental space within my working environments.My peer support experience began when I volunteered with the McGill Peer Support Centre, where I received extensive active listening, confidentiality, and crisis training on suicide intervention and emergencies. I facilitated crisis training focusing on suicide, child abuse, homicide, and domestic violence. I finished my time with the service as a part of the executive team, where I gained strong leadership experience. I am now trained as a crisis responder at Kids Help Phone on their Crisis Text line Platform, where I have learned valuable risk assessment skills and fundamental support techniques.My work experience has always had a people focus. For example, I have worked as a front-of-store employee at a pharmacy, a Host at a Restaurant, and as a virtual moderator for the Mental Health First Aid Course, where I worked with the public and learned communication skills that I believe will support my work within my community. I aspire to continue working with marginalized individuals in the mental health and addiction field.
