Working at a start-up as my first real job has provided me with the opportunity to be a part of different aspects of the company including the ones I was hired for. I have been able to use my economics background to create models to help decide prices for our products. But I have also been very hands-on in further developing our products and bringing these ideas to life. This job has given me versatility and new experiences that I never expected to gain.

For the 2014-2015 school year, I filled the role of Co-Interim Director of Football Operations, meaning that I, along with two other students-workers, were responsible for everything that it takes to run a Division I football program, except for, you know, the actual football part. My main responsibilities focus around organizing the team calendar by coordinating the times and spaces for team meeting and practices as well as keeping track of the team budget, specifically deciphering how the funds are being allocated. Aside from my regular responsibilities, I plan recruiting events including daylong unofficial visits and weekend-long official visits. In my position, I am one of the first people recruits and their families come in contact with. In our last two seasons, we achieved around a 50% yield of recruits as a result of events held for the recruits and their families.

International ThermoDyne (iTD) is a startup company based out of Charlotte that harvests electrical energy from heat and motion (which occur naturally in the environment). iTD is currently in the process of developing their first consumer application. As the business intern, I have expanded my knowledge on the hard work it takes to run a start up company from creating marketing materials, conducting market research, and even understanding the more technical, science aspect of the business.

Cheerleading was one of my earliest passions. For the past 4 summers, I have been able to share that passion with young schoolgirls, ranging from kindergarten to 7th grade, who aspire to be cheerleaders just like me. During camp, I collaborate with two other coaches to teach an original cheerleading routine, comprised of multiple cheers and a dance, to over 30 kids in preparation for a camp-wide showcase for an audience of at least 300 friends and family members.

As an intern at Momentum, I had the incredible opportunity to be involved in Coca-Cola’s national Share A Coke campaign. The campaign included a 500-stop cross-country tour, where I was tasked with coordinating event logistics and details with our West Coast venues. I was also apart of a two-person team where we were responsible for a project in which we effectively carried out an operational plan, within a two-week period, to produce and distribute almost 1000 promotional cans for an event that was rained out. Weekly, I extracted and organized data of each promotional event in order to analyze the success of the campaign.
