Maybeth Morales-Davis is an accomplished nonprofit executive and community activist with two decades of experience in the fields of housing, social justice, and the arts. She has a proven track record of leading high-impact initiatives, securing significant funding, and fostering collaborative partnerships to advance the mission and vision of her organization. Maybeth began her career in the nonprofit sector after attending Naugatuck Valley Community College and Southern State Connecticut University, where she studied art education. She took a hiatus from her studies to care for her beloved aunt, who was ill, and later resumed her work in various administrative and managerial roles in nonprofit organizations. As the Deputy Director of NEST, a housing development nonprofit organization, Maybeth oversees all aspects of the organization's operations, programs, marketing, and fundraising. She has successfully secured a $1 million grant from the state to support communities that have been disproportionately affected by cannabis prohibition and enforcement. She also led the rebranding of NEST, including a new name, logo, website, and brand identity. In addition, she has initiated innovative projects such as the architectural "design challenge", which invited local architects to compete in designing a new home for the community, and the Housing Expo, which connected residents with housing resources and vendors.Maybeth is passionate about using her skills and creativity to uplift her community and create a more equitable place for all. She was selected by the CT Office of the Arts AIR Program in 2022, and has obtained a certification as a facilitator to foster community engagement through artistic expression. She also worked with local residents and founded It's Time Waterbury (ITW), a grassroots initiative aimed at identifying ways to improve the city. One notable achievement of the group, in partnership with other grassroots organizations, was the creation of the Campaign School, a multi-course training that equips residents with the skills and knowledge to run or support effective political campaigns.Maybeth is actively involved in various volunteer roles, such as serving as a Commissioner of the Waterbury Arts and Culture Commission, the board member of The Leadership University. In her spare time, Maybeth enjoys de-schooling her two sons (with her husband), gardening, spending time with her family, and making abstract art pieces.
