As a contract consultant and subcontractor, I designed, purchased, installed, and maintained new technologies working closely with vendors and technicians. Prepared RFQs, RFPs for rewiring, hardware and software procurement. Implemented, configured and set up telecommunications on servers- Novell, Microsoft and Unix. Trained staff with proprietary custom training materials on new equipment and software. Introduced computers and the WWW to New Yorkers with editorials in New York Magazine - "MAC Daddy" and "Webbed Feat".

Developing tools for e-learning

Taught various technology overview courses, psychology, English Composition using prescribed syllabi of the college.

The prison facility is for 16-18 year old male offenders. Using Microsoft Office, VIA Character Strengths, Film, and various educational games Scrabble, Card Monopoly, Card Scrabble classes were held Monday -Friday. The duration of classes were about 3 hours in the morning and afternoon. Students were introduced to the 24 strengths and asked to select their top 6. They then wrote about their strengths and how they used them. Emphasis on using these tools and educational publications to assist them to understand their options when released. Typing skills of 30 WPM with 90% accuracy was practiced. Letter preparation, envelopes, lists, tables, charts, Excel basic features were used when monitoring 15 popular stocks. Each student was given a "budget" to invest 10K to monitor. PowerPoint was introduced with presentations showing their top 6 strengths using basic functions of the program.This population varied in their skills, some had their High School equivalency and some young men had left school before attending High School. Motivation to do school activities in class was extremely low. Certificates were given when they achieved improvement in typing and when they achieved the goal set.Positive reinforcement was constantly given when possible. Critiques were given when a student was receptive. Individual assistance was given as the classes were small 8-5 students.

Teaching Document Processing, Word and Powerpoint, and Excel, Intro. to Psychology. Integrated Web tools, WordPress blogging software. Students were shown and created accounts with LinkedIn, Slideshare and various pertinent networking applications.

Trained staff on Unix software, Asterix - integrated office software, taught specific styles for document generation, help desk and floor assistance to typing pool. Software encompassed word processing, spreadsheet, data management, graphics. Prepared training documentation.

Trained staff on CEO = Comprehensive Electronic Office - integrated wordprocessing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and calendar. Created training manual. Wrote, applied for, received and implemented grant for WordPerfect software.

Marketed mini-computers to city, state and not-for-profits. Created NY State contract for sales of hardware and software. Served as liaison between VAR and client. Configured hardware meeting needs for software requirements and users.

Government Representative - established contracts with the city and state of NY. Sold to Federal Government in NYC.Sold word processing equipment and software.

Taught English 7-9 grades, used multimedia available at that time. Used the NYC-Donnell Library for film rentals. Created multimedia and visual aids for use with students with learning issues. Most of the student population had never traveled beyond the neighborhood - "the hood". Planned and took classes to museums which offered many first time experiences to the students.
