Mayte Prida is a television host, an author and one of the most prominent Hispanic advocates for women and health issues in the country today. Recently, she became the Hispanic spokesperson for The National Honey Board. Mayte also, oversees the work of The Mayte Prida Foundation, and is a well recognized motivational speaker. Mayte was born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico. She graduated with a BA in communications from Our Lady of the Lake University; Mayte began her career as a local news reporter for KWEX -TV and went on to anchor the evening news. She was responsible for the national news breaks on the SIN (now Univision) Network. She was recruited by KMEX TV channel 34 to anchor their daily news programs. Later on, as a host and producer of "America", a national Univision show she reached one of the top positions in the Hispanic news world of the United States. Most recently, she hosted Entre Amigas as part of the national Telemundo show Cada Dia and is currently working on her new TV and Radio series VIVA, Su Segunda Juventud.In 2001 adversity struck Mayte as she was diagnosed with breast cancer in an advanced stage. She wrote her ordeal in her first book "A Difficult Journey, my battle with cancer" and documented her first year fighting the disease with the hopes of helping other women affected by cancer. That book opened her doors as an author. She was signed by the Ford Motor Company as the Hispanic spokesperson for their breast cancer awareness campaign. Since then, Mayte got herself involved in different women oriented organizations as well as health issues for minorities. She has been a keynote and guest speaker for the most prominent Hispanic organizations as well as Pharmaceutical Companies.
