As a Junior Civil Engineer at Sierra Construction Pvt Ltd, I had the opportunity to work on a significant Water Tower Construction Project in Jaffna for eight months. In this role, I was deeply involved in various aspects of the project, from planning and design to execution and final delivery. My responsibilities included assisting in the development of detailed project plans and timelines, conducting site inspections to ensure adherence to safety protocols and project specifications, and collaborating closely with senior engineers and project managers. I also coordinated with subcontractors and suppliers to guarantee the timely delivery of materials and services, and utilized engineering software such as AutoCAD for drafting and designing project components. Throughout the project, I prepared daily and weekly reports to update stakeholders on the progress, addressing any issues or delays promptly. Ensuring compliance with local building codes, environmental regulations, and quality standards was a critical part of my job, as was resolving technical challenges and on-site problems. This role allowed me to hone my project management and site supervision skills, improve my technical drafting abilities, and enhance my communication and teamwork capabilities.
