Projects:- Energy savings: Build a ‘digital twin’ to enable energy optimization studies in a drying process- Yield increase: Develop an AI based method to enhance yield in a chromatography process. Implement the resulting model into software advising operators during production- Downtime prediction: Apply neural networks to analyze and warn of unplanned machine/system downtime- Incident notification: Use numerical language processing to assess severity of manufacturing incidents- Parameter estimation: Estimate parameters in bio-pharmaceutical upstream processes using (physics informed) neural networks

Using state-of-the-art machine learning techniques I am responsible for developing methods and building software to improve production processes for Werum’s customers in the pharma and biotech industries.

Main topic: Changing characteristics of wind storms applying numerical detection and tracking techniques to atmospheric model data.- apply spatial filters for feature detection in numerical data of the atmosphere- identify storm centres and merge them to tracks- classify detected storm tracks using multivariate statistical methods (e.g. Discriminant Functions)- statistically analyse and publish the results

Response of the hydrological cycle to climate warming, e.g. moisture transports, extreme precipitation and links to Earth's radiation budget.- develop algorithms to calculate 4d moisture transports in numerical data of the atmosphere- identify sources and sinks of atmospheric moisture supply- statistically analyse and publish the results

Future projections of polar low frequency, extension of my PhD work into a projected warmed future.

Student assistant contract to prepare my Diploma thesis. Topic: Simulation of nutrient and pollutant transports from river discharges in the southern North Sea using a numerical model.
