Senior Software EngineerStripe Apr 2018 - PresentSouth San Francisco, California, UsStripe is building Global Payments and Treasury Network (GPTN) and I am at the very core of it. I built several payment provider integrations including bank credit transfer with a bank in Europe and credit card clearing acknowledgement pipeline with card network in Asia. -
Backend ArchitectDigitory Legal Oct 2016 - Apr 2018I was asked to help build the backend for this innovative legal budgeting application. The frontend is a React/Redux and the backend was a Node/Sails, but we ported it to Rails. Sails just had too many shortcomings compared to Rails. We made this transition transparent by adding a proxy to Rails and then gradually intercepting more and more calls as we kept porting them. It was originally deployed to AWS Beanstalk and we kept it that way.

Senior Software EngineerRazer May 2015 - Apr 2018Irvine, Ca, UsRazer acquired OUYA for a number of reasons. One of them was our App Store. The company was in the process of building its own gaming console - ForgeTV and our Game Launcher and App Store were a perfect fit. We ported our code. Had to integrate with a number of internal Razer services. We kept using the same technology stack as it worked perfectly for us.Sadly both OUYA and ForgeTV projects got canceled and our Rails infrastructure got wound down. -
Principal EngineerOuya, Inc. Aug 2012 - May 2015When I was hired as a lead server engineer my responsibility was simple ‘Build an App Store’. OUYA was a successful Kickstarter campaign for an Android based TV gaming console. And like any other modern smart device it needed a server backend. We launched in Jun 2013 and immediately had another challenge on our hands: scaling. Consoles were selling like hotcakes and we had a very rapid server load ramp-up which was exacerbated by our quickly increasing games library and a steady addition of new features. We started fine-tuning our architecture with performance optimizations (SQL and code level), multilevel caching (Memoization, Redis, HTTP, CDN), autoscaling (HireFire), message queueing (Sidekiq) and other tricks. We were serving upwards of 200,000 consoles, ~10,000 RPM and still staying within our self-imposed 50 ms response time limit on most of our API calls. There’s been a number of other challenges during the following years: various integrations (WorldPay, BrainTree, InComm, NetSuite), new back-office tools, more apis, more personalization, more analytics. We were acquired by Razer in 2015 where I continued developing App Store. -
