• More than 10 years dedicated to research and contributions to the definition of 5G/4G standards. Actively participated in the development of all 3GPP releases from Rel. 10 up to Rel. 17.• Authored and presented numerous contributions at 3GPP RAN WG meetings. Particularly focused on RAN architecture, L2/L3 features, protocol stacks and procedures.• Research and standards prime for several 5G features, most notably Integrated Access and Backhaul, NR paging, Unified Access Control, and RAN architecture.• Contributed to 3GPP system design including CU/DU functional split, system security and MEC.• Led RAN2 standards research for device-to-device discovery/communication, vehicular communication (V2V/V2X), fixed and mobile relays.• Chaired wireless research patent review board for 5 years. Worked to define Futurewei’s IPR strategy, identify key patents, and contributed to the building of an extensive IPR portfolio.• Led cooperative research projects with prime investigators from several leading universities. • Built a research team tasked with creating concepts, state-of-the-art algorithms, and enabling technologies for the management of radio resources in 4G wireless technologies. • Guided team in the research and definition of solutions for radio resource management: air-interface scheduling, power/rate control, admission/congestion control, and mobility management.• Team delivered product solutions and algorithms for LTE, 802.16/WiMax, UMB, and DORA. • Led various research initiatives and technical projects, both internally and in cooperation with universities. These resulted in several technical publications and patent filings.

• Customer facing role, defining product strategy and roadmap for key areas of CDMA & EVDO product portfolio. • Championed customer requirements defined product feature sets and solution roadmaps. Led research & development teams to fulfill these objectives, from project inception through final feature delivery.• Coordinated, developed, and presented product related collateral to various user group meetings and customer workshops.• Led the performance and capacity characterization of advanced vocoders (4GV, SMV, EVRC) and developed voice capacity analysis methodology.• Technical authority for approving design decisions impacting portfolio of features, including system architecture choices, design strategies, implementation details, and performance objectives.

• Consulted for various UMTS product development and system engineering teams and contributed to the evaluation, validation, and optimization of UMTS radio performance-related features, interoperability and RAN integration.• Member of the team that demonstrated the 1st UMTS voice call for Nortel in a live customer network. This was a key milestone to achieve customer acceptance and progress with deployments in several Vodafone markets.• Actively contributed to pre-release optimization of 1xRTT product features. Participated in development & validation of product-differentiating features via live-air assessment in captive network.• Contributed to system design and definition of performance analysis of advanced solutions for mobility, capacity, and resource management.• Advisor on 3G CDMA system design process. Developed design methodology for CDMA packet data, and incorporated rate specific link availability and soft handoff evaluation into design process.

• Technology applications prime for Rural Cell product and Extended Cell features. Contributed to all stages of product conception and implementation, prototype demonstration, product validation and field testing, creating application guidelines and supporting customer deployment.• Lead network designer of Nortel’s first GSM 1900 system for T-Mobile in Hawaii. Instrumental in delivery of this project, from initial proposal, network design and implementation, through optimization and bringing system into commercial service.• Developed design strategies and link budgets for coverage enhancement technologies using RF repeaters, distributed antenna systems DAS and leaky co-axial cable. • Participated in designs, performance criteria definition, test plan development, and system test methodology definition for most major domestic operators and several international projects. • Authored several technical reports and white papers and served as departmental advisor on RF system design process, deployment, and optimization.
