Earned my PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a research focus on design theory and methodology and engineering education.• Led an investigation of the effectiveness of a novel engineering tutoring software to develop students’ freehand sketching abilities; managed data collection and analysis across 4 universities resulting in 2 journal papers• Designed and led an experiment to test the relationship between sketching ability and ideation; managed the collection, evaluation, and analysis of sketching and creativity data from 100s of engineering students resulting in 1 conference paper and 1 journal paper• Designed and led an experiment on facilitated idea generation; co-mentored an undergraduate engineering student to continue the research resulting in 2 conference papers• Investigated makerspaces in the context of undergraduate engineering programs: analyzed the relationships between makerspace involvement, self-efficacy, and academic performance resulting in 1 journal paper• Mentored 4 undergraduate engineering students: taught research methods, guided experiment design and implementation, and directed data analyses
