About Matt Babson

I currently hold the position of Director of Special Events and Catering for The Room at JohnnyLukes, a new and exciting private event venue adjacent to JohnnyLukes Kitchenbar. I oversee all booking, contract negotiations, planning and execution for events and catered functions.I studied at and had been accepted into the Bachelor's of Science Nursing program at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, but with my application to pursue a career in the hospitality industry.I had previously attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where I studied Exercise and Sports Science with hopes of a career in Sports Medicine or Athletic Training. After two years I withdrew and began working at Outback Steakhouse where I successfully worked my way from busperson to a salaried Service and Beverage Manager position in just over four years. Upon deciding I needed a change in career paths, I resigned and returned to school.
