I am responsible for the overall governance and creation of legal policies and ensuring that the charity is running in an efficient and effective way and in accordance with the rules laid out by the Charity Commission.The charity has four national campaigns of which I create and run:The Outdoor Kids Sun Safety CodeThis FREE online resource bank was developed by a leading skin cancer specialist alongside experts in physical education and safeguarding. It is partnered with the Association of Physical Education (AfPE), the Youth Sport Trust, Sports Coach UK and the Child Protection in Sport Unit (NSPCC). It is also supported by over 120 national governing bodies, clubs and associations who work with children in a whole range of outdoor activities. Taking advice off the page and into action and blowing the whistle on sunburn!Watch Your Back!This campaign was launched in 2016 to raise awareness of melanoma and the importance of skin checking to male gardeners over 50 who are currently at the highest risk of developing and dying from the disease. It features sun protection tips for gardeners and advice on skin checking, officially written by skin cancer expert and Head of MASCU (QVH), Mr Samuel Orkar and Mr Siva Kumar.The campaign is supported by 9 leading celebrity gardeners, the Garden Centre Association, The National Allotment Society and the Professional Gardeners Guild. Slip! Slap! Swing!Aimed at raising awareness of sun protection to all in golf, this is a campaign for golfers and greenkeepers. Launched in 2019, it is supported by all UK golf organisations. Sunguarding SportThis is our newest campaign, designed to put sun protection on the radar in sport. With over 60 NGBs of sport already supporting the campaign , it’s off to a fantastic start! -
