The Ordinary Moments Foundation is a non-profit organization for residents of the valley who are chronically ill, terminal or hospitalized. The Ordinary Moments Foundation is dedicated to providing uplifting visits with an emphasis on personal contact.Each person that receives a visit from the Ordinary Moments Foundation is an individual and as such deserves to be treated that way, no matter their age or medical diagnosis. The children I visit are able to choose from story books, read to them by finger puppets or even with a silly wig perched on my heads. Adults have their choices from newspapers, The Bible or a variety of other reading sources. If they so choose, I also just talk and visit for an hour at a time, each time. I believe that an “ordinary moment” is what people need to remember and connect with someone else about the stories of their life and who they are. These visits are absolutely free to the people I visit, be it one visit or twenty.Our objective is to provide visits for people that remind them that their world is still more than their diagnosis. Research shows that patients have physical responses to personal visits of this type. Blood pressures and brain waves change, white blood cell counts improve.
