Engaged by the Tax Services Leader & reporting directly to the Transformation Lead Partner & his peers on the Tax Leadership Team, Mark defined & led the implementation of a transformation strategy throughout Tax (accounting for 50% of the revenue at PwC Luxembourg). Working with the tax partners & leading a small team of subject matter experts, the transformation resulted in a 300% improvement in the bottom line during the first financial year of its realisation, very significantly increasing future service capacity, all whilst achieving a dramatic fall in annual staff turnover to less than 2.5%. Organisational, human, process (OPI/CI, methodology) & IT (automation, AI, product) capital was significantly increased to the degree that the productivity gains resulted in the total re-shoring of all tax related services that were previously near-shored. Furthermore, advisory was provided to a number of other major ongoing initiatives including: Managed Services, Audit & IT transformations.

Directly reporting into the European Head of Finance, Mark was the investment banks key champion for all aspects of a program to transform Finance into a global unified operation & replace the various country specific systems used with a single global & centralised accounts payable, fixed asset & general ledge solution based upon SAP4HANA. Role included being the lead on successfully obtaining the authorisation to proceed from the financial regulators for the EU (Joint Supervisory Team (JSF) & Luxembourg (CSSF).

Deutsche Börse & Clearstream : Luxembourg, Frankfurt, Prague, London, India

Engaged by the stock exchange to provide a significant contribution to various business initiatives, strategic programs & related projects in whichever lead role required. Successes include: transforming Corporate Admin & Fixed Income operations, establishing Prague branch to manage the newly highly automated operation significantly improving service levels & reducing costs; Various lead roles on numerous major initiatives including: creating compliance department & associated tech-enabled operation; incorporating US Tax FATCA, automating securities pricing & partial automation of securities lending, utilising data science to identify an opportunity in the core business that guaranteed a recurring increase in 20% (100 million euros) in Clearstream’s annual revenue (for near zero additional cost).

Directly reporting to the global CTO in North America; responsible for all Technology & Operational matters within the organisation enabling effective Transfer Agency services for State Street Bank and their major clients throughout Europe. Transformed the IT & Operation into an advanced automated operation both facilitating the integration of All Funds Trading business acquired from Deutsche Bank (30% of Germanys TA activity & 300% increase in funds under management) whilst improving service levels & moving from 8hr/5 days/week to 24/5 operation whilst incurring a disproportionally small increase in costs.

Defined the strategy & successfully lead a major transformation of the world wide domestic custody service delivery target operating model after the acquisition of the Global Custody business by State Street bank. Successfully split the custody business & hand-over to State Street & implemented a new global TOM achieving a 62% reduction in costs whilst delivering very significant service delivery improvements.
