Baxter Aerospace is focused on solving the world's uncontrolled wildfire epidemic. This problem is solved by detecting fires early and extinguishing them before they are out of control. This requires greatly scaling up the amount, fidelity, and frequency of detection and fire data. This data system forms the foundation for more affective actions today and round-the-clock rapid response actions of large robotic aircraft tomorrow.Baxter Aerospace also has extensive experience creating hardware and software for space vehicle launch systems, flight testing, nuclear fusion reactors, robotic aircraft, and manufacturing systems for the same.

Responsible to organize, develop, and care for a team of 46 individuals that engineer, draft, and communicate across the entire enterprise to turn ideas into flying assets of customers around the world. This required developing and refining work-flow communications, advancing a culture of individual development of employees, enhancing compliance with ASME and MIL standards through key work-process software improvements, and trainings. The resulting organization, while under my tenure, had among the lowest turnover.

Shepherded the design of the Flexrotor UAS from early prototype to serial production ready. Gathered and solidified design requirements from internal and external stake holders, hired staff, executed key vehicle design and test efforts for producibility, function, and customer quick-change needs. Responsible for weight and balance, payload interfaces, primary structure interfaces, systems integrations including RF transceivers. The amazing aircraft that resulted set a world-record for flight endurance by a VTOL aircraft at 32hrs 08 min, guided ships through ice flows in the arctic, hunted for animal poachers in the tropics, and many other unique operations. Also responsible for developing a manufacturing system to establish serial production of the FlexRotor. This work entailed process flow design, factory layout development, capital purchases and all aspects operations. Identified patentable items, named inventor on 2 patent applications.

* Identified market opportunity for automotive tools that expedite work flow and provide enhanced safety. Founded company and led development of computer-controlled automotive diagnostic and jump-starting system, automotive computer memory saver, and trailer wiring diagnostic system. * Managed product development using EVM and PMP concepts to guide electrical, mechanical, and software engineering resources. Managed sales efforts, distribution channels, IP portfolio establishment, and contract manufacturers. Supported key international and national customers during product introduction.• Performed firmware development, and key aspects of the circuit design and circuit board layout. Established the manufacturing processes, automated and manual test protocols, and quality controls per AS9100

* Developed innovative, solar-powered, remotely controlled electric fence charger for a government security contractor. Defined product architecture, performed circuit design, coordinated board layout and mechanical design. System slated for international release in 2014.

* Developed embedded audio processing circuitry and signal processing algorithms for a start-up company making network-controlled stage-audio equipment. Functional hardware completed on-time enabling company to demonstrate revolutionary flexibility in stage audio equipment to key customers.

* Identified and prioritized market opportunities for electrical power distribution products based on the technology developed by Power Safe Technologies LLC. Created product development, regulatory, and sales plans in addition to establishing the IP portfolio for US and international protection.* Managed a team of electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to develop alpha-level power safety outlet in 6 months. Leveraged this work to produce a family of products that incorporate the same safety technology.* Gained buy-in from key government and private individuals responsible for product performance certifications and installation codes. Built consensus on course for requirement in the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70). Authored proposals for changing codes and participated in code making process.

* Developed computer-controlled power management technology that enables power distribution devices to supply power only when an appliance is actively being used, greatly enhancing safety by detecting unsafe situations while power is off. * Created technology specification and initial IP portfolio. Demonstrated technology in multiple functional product prototypes. Performed circuit design, firmware development, and mechanical design. * Successfully merged company with a New York-based investment group.

* Lead team of analysts and engineers to develop a market expansion strategy for early stage home automation company. Coordinated research efforts, held team members accountable for deliverables, and communicated progress to the company. Control4 implemented the formal recommendations from the team.
