Successful academic programs require leadership from individuals with multifaceted experience, which I have. I’ve filled the role of both student and faculty, in online and on-ground classes, at large and small universities, in America and abroad. I’ve developed courses and assessments in collaboration with cross-functional teams and worked with students remotely, in classrooms, in dorms, and one-on-one. Even my K-12 education was broad, involving American private and public schools and Australian public high school. As a result, I bring a valuable perspective that a specialist cannot -- one that looks at how a given project will fit into the overarching university mission and meet students’ needs.I'm especially proud of my work on the University of Phoenix General Education and Undergraduate Learning Goals committee. Merging writing and public speaking into one "communication" category was proposed, and I advocated strongly for keeping writing separate because if the two subjects were merged -- even in theory – students could attempt to fulfill writing requirements by taking broader communication courses. In my professional opinion, without writing courses, students would be missing a critical facet of their education. I believe my efforts played a key role in ensuring future revisions to the curriculum would include undergraduate writing classes.I’m passionate about writing and technology, about the opportunities distance learning provides for enterprising students who may otherwise forego education, and about continuously improving curriculum quality and student experiences. After more than 15 years of success implementing effective policies and programs, I’m eager to take the next step in my career toward administrative leadership.
