• Wrote and/or contributed to the refinement of OpenType code to support Latin, non-Latin, and symbol scripts, specifically complex scripts including but not limited to Google's Noto Sans SignWriting, Noto Nastaliq Urdu, Noto Sans Newa, Noto Myanmar, and Noto Sans Javanese. • Partnered with designers and project managers to engineer high quality custom fonts while meeting specifications and deadlines. • Interpreted Unicode specifications and collaborated with external designers and linguists to produce complete and functional fonts for multiple languages. • Refined and finalized fonts by closely collaborating with other senior engineers on code implementation, validation, and debugging. • Diagnosed and resolved errors from external font sources in collaboration with quality assurance team. • Customized numerous proofing documents for many scripts and tested fonts to verify functionality, legibility, and compliance (with Harfbuzz, for example). • Contributed to project planning and timeline estimates for font development. • Informed decision-makers through documentation of project specifications, activities, and status. • Supported customer technology needs with font maintenance and recommendations to meet specific requirements while also adapting to software and hardware limitations. • Maintained font performance with necessary updates, sometimes reworking fonts to meet requirements of varying end products such as smart phones, eBooks, cars, or the web. • Meticulously managed working files, data, and source deliverables. • Contributed feedback and functionality requests for development and improvement of proprietary font tools. • Hinted Latin and non-Latin TrueType fonts for clients such as Amazon, Apple, Ford, GE, and Nokia. • Taught all aspects of hinting TrueType to team members in order to meet production demand and increase efficiency.
