As owner of MBG Service, a residential service provider for Kitchen and Bath design, consultation, and renovation services I have to excel in many facets of business management; from marketing and sales, to customer service and project management. More importantly, I have to deliver quality workmanship; I do not believe in cutting corners or taking short cuts when undertaking a client's project. Naturally, there is a balance between economy and quality; tight budgets do not fit with high level custom work. However, that does not mean that one should expect a lower quality of workmanship on their project. There is a delicate balance that is often difficult to find when a project has a very limited budget. Instead of using materials of poor quality or accepting sub par labor; a careful assessment should be made to find the right balance; the amount of labor required vs. the quality of material. Through diligent sourcing efforts and careful planning of the fabrication or installation of properly sourced materials, a project with budget constraints can still have an end result that rivals similar projects with higher costs. The key is understanding where to cut out the excess without sacrificing design, function, or durability. This is never an easy task but one I vigorously undertake; I enjoy the challenge.Even if a project had the theoretical "unlimited budget" I will still do everything in my power to get my clients the best value, and in the end, the greatest ROI. The Kitchen Cabinet department of Lowe's is unique in regard to the other departments in many different ways; it is basically a store, within a store. While corporate policy and promotional planning provided the basic direction of the department, the Kitchen Project Specialists have a great deal of freedom (with proper management support) to operate the department as if it were their own business. While I enjoyed my time at Lowe's helping customers envision and acquire their dream kitchens, to helping a DIY customer to utilize the proper technique when upgrading their laminate counters or repainting cabinetry; I found that I missed the freedom and satisfaction of providing my services as an independent contractor. So, this past summer I left the Kitchen Cabinet department in the capable hands of Mrs. Helen Brewer and embarked to establish my own company, MBG Services. I offer design and consultation services for Kitchen and Bath renovations (in addition to other interior projects); offer sales of several products, with the option of installation of course, including but not limited to the following: laminate goods with countertops being the primary focus, stone counters from basic granite to exotic marble, cabinetry upgrades (hardware, drawer boxes, storage systems, etc) as well as a full line of doors for re-facing projects that can accommodate just about any budget, sales and installation of various backsplash materials, and much more. And of course, I also offer custom carpentry work including cabinets, built in units, etc.Within the next year I will also be offering serval choices of semi custom cabinetry and specialty items such as rolling ladders, doors, and much more.
