My creative roots have taken me from music college to an arts and design background by way of traditional media, mural work, sign-writing and interior finishing at the start of my career. I then took this traditional design sense to the digital platform and earned a degree in eCommerce, web development and graphic design in 2000.Seeking adventure and camaraderie, I worked with the Department of National Defence as an Infantryman with 1PPCL from 2003-2006. After my release, I completed required university credits, wrote my provincial board exams and was employed in the hearing healthcare sector where I worked as a clinician and managed several hearing clinics between 2006 to 2017.I've always loved music, design, form, function and creating beautiful things. I'm the most at-home in my wood shop or designing new projects. My love for music and design coupled with an entrepreneurial background led me to pursuing creative passions and apprenticing for one year as a luthier in 2018. In 2019 I completed a 'Masters Program of Guitar Building' on Vancouver Island and now own and operate 'Whitney Guitars' and the 'Whitney School of Guitar Building where I build high-end custom instruments for discerning musicians both nationally and internationally. I also offer a wide-range of guitar building courses that range from one-week to one-year. A project that I'm most proud of is my 'Guitar Building for Vets' program that I offer as part of an educational 'suite' to provide an additional therapy modality for fellow veterans and first-responders suffering from PTSD and other major depressive disorders.
