• Produced a database of the spatial and temporal distribution of deforestation in the State of Acre, Brazil. This database was used by Geoconsult to predict deforestation by logarithmic regression, which served to establish a baseline for evaluating the reduction of emissions from deforestation. This project became recognized as the world’s first jurisdictional REDD (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) program, accounting for more than 100M tons of CO2 as carbon credits, and providing the methodology for performing MRV (Measuring, Reporting and Verification) activities implemented under the REDD mechanism at a global scale• Provided consulting services to help clients manage their carbon footprint, including recommendations for engaging in the carbon sequestration market. Contributed to the creation of the Afforestation and Reforestation project methodologies AR-AM0005 and AR-AM0010, under the Clean Develop Mechanism (CDM) of the Kyoto Protocol, and used it to demonstrate the eligibility of projects such as AES Tiete, VALE Florestar, V&M Florestal and Plantar.• Received a USD $100K grant from the Innovative Research in Small Businesses Program (FAPESP-PIPE) to develop the Econometric Modeling of the Brazilian Geoinformation Market project, which received the program’s highest distinction.

• Promoted innovative products for customers in Brazil. Sold state-of-the-art high-resolution satellite data for clients such as the São Paulo State Secretariat for the Environment (SMA-SP), the Geographic Service Office of Brazilian Army (DSG), PETROBRAS, and VALE. Established strong customer relationships, developed new business and maintained positive workflow with clients.

• Constructed a network of resellers throughout South America for INTERSAT – a IMAGEM Company that started sales of satellite images in this territory from the first regional sources of remote sensing products, such as the Brazilian National Institute for Space Research (INPE), the Argentinean National Commission on Space Activities (CONAE) and the Ecuadoran Centre for Integrated Remote Sensing Applications for Natural Resources (CLIRSEN).

• Delivered several projects using remote sensing techniques and state-of-the-art GIS systems from that time (SGI-SITIM, ArcView 3.x, IDRISI, etc.) for customers such as ASSEPLAN Engenharia e Consultoria, Indigenous Area “Trincheira / Bacajá” (1,7M ha), IBICABA Agropastoril, Xingu Farm (110K ha), Agropecuaria Grendene – Ressaca Farm (55K ha), Para Steel Mill Company – COSIPAR, (24K ha).
