PROJECT: FISHERIES AND MARINE TECHNOLOGY POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE IN INHAMBANE PROVINCECLIENT: MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT

Main project features: The project consists of construction of an urban resettlement with 272 houses, social infrastructures with their improved sanitation system: a women and social assistance centre; a Health Centre Type 2, a primary and high school, teachers houses; sports fields; a police station; a market, four churches; construction of 1.1 km main asphalted access to the resettlement site and 16.3 km secondary and tertiary dirt roads inside the resettlement site with hydraulic passages across and alongside the roads, and a water supply system starting from borehole catchment to network distribution. Activities Performed: Review and prepare the designs; Inspect the works and ensure that contractors works comply with the project specifications; capacity building, advising on practical construction matters; directing and ensuring safety and good quality in the execution of works; Conducting work meetings and prepare their respective minutes; responsible for preparing the progress reports, certification of the materials to be applied in the works; responsible for monitoring and evaluation of the contractor’s work progress and performance, responding to design queries, give assistance to find out solution of issues that affect work progress; Responsible for site management, inspection of compliance with Environmental and Social Management Plan including Health and Safety Procedures; Assist in the hand over process making sure all the defects are previously identified and corrected properly

Main project features: The WSUP programme approach was described by the following four strategic objectives: SO1- Demonstration: To deliver effective, equitable and financially viable models of service delivery to the urban poor men, women and children; SO2 – Capacity Building: To strengthen institutional capacity of service providers to sustain the improvement process in urban WASH in the long term; SO3 – Mobilizing Investment - To mobilize investment from a range of funding sources to scale up delivered models at a city wide level; SO4 – Dissemination & Learning - To document and promote successful models and learning to the national and global WASH sector.The post required ability to work in a team; a results-motivated attitude with ability to manage own work within an existing framework; close attention to detail and the quality of data collection; ability to coordinate and manage the given tasks and achieve target deliverables and outputs; an excellent ability to manage timelines and meet deadlines.Activities Performed: Responsible for activities related to WSUP programme under the water and sanitation components. These activities included a range of water and sanitation infrastructure components including implementation and capacity building; Undertake technical activities for planning, consultation, implementation and M&E for improved WASH services; Ensure a good quality and technical standards in all aspects of planning, design and construction; Ensure satisfactory construction supervision during implementation of works and the requirement to check works as per Bills of Quantities and recommendations for payments to contractors; Conducting work meetings with contractors and community organization and producing the respective minutes; producing weekly, quarterly and annual reports, etc.

Main project features: Supervision of all works related to construction of improved sanitation infrastructures and extension of the tertiary water supply network in the peri-urban are of Maputo City. Activities Performed: Give support in the coordination and the management of the projects in the procurement process for hiring contractors; assist the project coordinator in coordination and inspection of all works related to water supply and sanitation projects; conduct field visits, do inspection of works ensuring that the Contractor and the community organizations are performing according to the requirements specified in the project and following the approved method; conduct technical meetings; Capacity building; Give advises on construction practical subjects, ensure handover is done with the desired quality of works; produce weekly, quarterly and annual reports
