I think my tagline describes me well, I excel at designing clean interactions between components, large and small, and I greatly enjoy the game of tying many disparate pieces together into a coherent and logical system architecture. My focus to date has been in the web, but since I have spent my years since 2008 working with embedded devices, I was never isolated in the box that is web development. Particularly since 2010, all of my development has been in Java utilizing the Google Web Toolkit.I have a varied work history that takes me from PHP to C#, from C++ to Java, from ASP.NET to Javascript and encounters with all the incidental languages that come with software engineering (Bash, lua, python, ruby, ant, etc).One of the key skills I think I've developed through working with all these technologies is how to work with constraints. The web sometimes seems to be made entirely out of constraints and I have grown quite adept at, quite frankly enjoy, working around or within these constraints to accomplish what was not thought as possible. The constraints of the browser also lends its skill to black box development, ascertaining whether black or white box code is to blame for a bug.My time as a user interface developer has also given me an innate sense of clean interactions, which I passionately apply toward the design and development of system architectures. I have adopted the philosophy that for libraries/frameworks/API implementation, a little complexity in the implementation for a cleaner/simpler consumer experience is well worth the effort.Outside of the office I tinker with homebrewing equipment, utilizing projects such as arduino and raspberrypi and applying those to automating my brewing process. I also bike a bit and thoroughly enjoy dabbling in home automation and carputers.Also, my favorite word is: syzygy.
