As one of the founding members of the Irish Ice Hockey Association in 1996 I have continued to fulfill roles in a number of positions all on a voluntary basis within the Association. I have developed and cultivated key international and domestic relations over the past 30 years and I continue to support the IIHA in its endeavors to grow and promote the game both at home and abroad. I am part of a team that constantly advocates the need for a permanent ice facility in Ireland so much so i own all the necessary and ancillary components of a rink, plant, boards, glass, Zamboni etc.I have 20+ yrs experience in the rink industry and have operated and built both temporary and permanent arenas. examples include Dundalk Ice Dome, Dublin Arena Santry, Dolphins Barn, City West, Smithfield on ice, Charlestown on Ice, Beacon on Ice.

Sometimes ancillary events would surround the site, for eg; Fun fair, markets, Santa’s Grotto and Winter Wonderland theme. - Clients include, City West Hotel, Dublin City Council, Beacon Sandyford, Charlestown SC , BUPA, Brennans, Paddy Power.- Design and custom build innovative new products to meet industry standard, piping, hose refrigeration and steel work to handle extreme low temperature.- Constantly liaise with client and fire officer as well as local Garda office as up to 40,000 patrons could attend a single event.- Meet with structural engineers, city architect, contractors and all necessary stakeholders before commencement of any build to iron out and discuss a comprehensive EMP event management plan.- Manage and be responsible for weight loading per sq meter on artificial floor structures or stage, monitor wind speed, crowd capacity, security, ingress, egress points, crowd safety, follow risk assessment protocols set out in EMP. - Plan well in advance of event a fire cert application process, appoint a fire safety consultant for this task as it speeds up the process.- All duties and responsibilities for the role of event organizer differ from any other, as I was also the Company Director I was at all times liable under Company law for the safety of the Public.using the event, this added a lot of pressure to run a tight smooth safe and enjoyable event. .

It was Ireland’s first and only indoor ice arena.- I put together a consortium to operate and maintain the facility.- We formed a management Company and ran the facility for 3-4 years- Establishing a new concept in a non traditional market was fun, challenging and very rewarding.- In 2007 The World Ice Hockey games were held there and broadcast globally by Setanta Sports with tremendous and positive feedback.- I continued to grow the business to a 2m turnover per year, forged and strengthened cross border relations with teams, clubs, and local authority. As well as the general paying public.- Built learn to play and skate programmes with in excess of 500 kids per week attending.- Formed after 1 year development and advanced leagues for men and women, in total 21 senior men's teams,1 girls team trained on a weekly basis. - Worked to enhance relationships with professional sport in Belfast and arranged the Giants Senior Mens Team and 1000 fans to host exhibition games in Dundalk instead of the Oddyssey Arena.- Designed the arena build so we could host trade shows exhibitions and concerts during the off peak times.- Dundalk became the fastest growing ice sports community in Europe per demographic. Coca cola interestingly noted that the largest account in north Leinster was the Ice Dome. I operated a full bar and restaurant at the venue, managed all beverage stock and food portion control, kids party rooms hosted in excess of 20 parties per week.

- Contracted only to UPC Ireland with an emphasis on quality checking, control and troubleshooting on the new upgraded network.- I was based in South Dublin and reported to the Project Manager, & client.- The project was to upgrade the network and fibre spine for all Dublin.- Duties and responsibilities included, liaising with local authority with regard to noticing road opening licenses, soft digs, road closure, traffic lights traffic management, outages, risk assessment and flooding.- Problem customers would obstruct or withhold way leave over cable routes creating areas of lock out. I needed to work with in house planners creatively to find new ways routes and means to bring services to our customers. - I would manage civils and cable crews in this role, deal with utility companies to avoid damage to existing UG infrastructure.- A combined approach with an overhead and underground solution was sometimes needed to find an alternative route from cab to the premises. - I would arrange and oversee all Traffic Management issues on site for the crews. - Order all stock associated with job description.- Monitor Health and Safety procedures and protocols while gangs were on site.- Identify risk assessment and TM before planned works, report back to PM & client - Take responsibility for decisions i made and all actions i chose to undertake.

In addition to this we were the main contractor handling all installation to this new product.- BNI was the preferred contractor to replace and maintain faulty equipment on the Esat Digifone/Garda telephone masts out of hours contract.- My direct responsibilities day to day was to oversee all operations of the business.- Including, work rosters, fleet management phones and diesel cards, insurance, payroll, dealing with client to meet targets and deliver on time.- Arrange schedule and oversee Staff training, risk assessment protocols & health and safety,- During this time the industry was undergoing change, and the challenge for us was to keep pace, be diverse, constantly be flexable to meet the demands of the client. example, up skill, retrain staff regularly, upgrade fleet and equipment, tools, calibrate and re calibrate test equipment.- Manage and outsource accounts for tools, desilting, civils, ladders, mobile hoists, plant & machinery, satellite up links when required.- We specialized in microwave and UHF links, these were point to point and mainly for Govt building during a Dail sitting Dept to Dept.
